Intermediate Urban Designer
SITELAB urban studio is looking for an Intermediate Urban Designer to join our San Francisco team. Our ideal candidate will have experience working on strategic and urban design projects in the US, with an ability to weave together pragmatism and vision. We are a fast-paced office working on transformative projects from taking action to spur downtown recovery to adapting San Francisco’s waterfront to be climate resilient to exploring sustainable models for new city development in California. We are looking for someone who is strategic, curious, engaged, team-oriented, ready for a challenge, has a sense of humor and is driven by supporting equitable, inclusive communities.
This role is a hybrid position with a minimum of two days/week in office in downtown San Francisco. Fluency in AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, Adobe Creative Suite, and Excel is required for all positions. Candidates with more experience, or who have applicable alternative experience are still encouraged to apply.
Qualifications
For this specific role, candidates must have a master’s degree in urban design or architecture (or equivalent) and a minimum of 5-9 years of post-graduate degree or relevant working experience. Experience should include managing work efforts and directing the design process and/or technical workflow. Based on current project needs, desired professional experience includes site planning, leading massing and feasibility studies, developing design guidelines including massing, articulation and ground floor design, managing yield tables, GIS analysis, navigating building and planning codes, and facilitating client meetings. Encouragement but not required; familiarity with Grasshopper and/or advanced modeling tools, rendering capabilities, and conversational Spanish.
Base salary range 80-100k DOE + full benefits as well as bonuses based on individual and firm performance.
