Built in 1952 and located in an industrial and residential portion of the Bayview Hunters Point neighborhood, the Southeast Plant is San Francisco’s largest all-weather wastewater treatment facility. Under the city’s Sewer System Improvement Program, the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) seeks to transform the aging wastewater plant into a state-of-the-art resource recovery facility that generates a positive and lasting impact on the Southeast neighborhood, creating new opportunities for SFPUC to interface with the community.
