Urban Designer
Rula’s interest lies at the intersection of architecture, landscape, and urbanism. Her work leverages design, research, and narrative tools that engage wider geopolitical and socio-economic contexts in the built environment. From the sidewalk to the territory, she strives to document and challenge the spatial manifestation of existing power structures.
Prior to joining SITELAB, Rula has practiced in both the United States and Palestine working on architecture, landscape, urban design, and research projects. Her most recent experience was based in Chicago working on public realm projects of various scales across the Midwest and East Coast. She is a registered architect (Illinois) and holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Architecture from Birzeit University and a Master of Architecture from School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she was awarded the Pritzker and Schiff fellowships.
